The Burton Veterans Honor Run is an 11K Run and a 5K Run/Walk which starts and finishes at Blessed Sacrament Church, and includes a route through the City of Burton’s showcase park, Kelly Lake. All runners and walkers are invited to participate, with a special honor to veterans with specially designed racing bibs for both veterans and active duty military entrants. Each participant will receive a voucher for a post-race meal including mostaccoli, salad and breadsticks. Proceeds will benefit The City of Burton Parks & Recreation Department and the Disabled American Veterans organization.

Awards will be presented in the 11K Run, 5K Run and 5K Walk divisions in the following categories.
- Overall Male & Female
- Masters Male & Female
- Top three Males and Females in age groups 1-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70+
- Challenge Coin for 11K Run finishers
New for 2018 we have added a “Ruck” or backpack division in the 5K run event. Participants are required to wear a backpack with a minimum of ten pounds of weight added. Ruck finishers will receive a Challenge Coin. To learn more about Rucking, please visit Go Ruck.
The course begins and finishes at Blessed Sacrament Church. The 11K runs through one of Burton’s finest parks, Kelly Lake. The 11K and 5K will also run through one of the bays of the Burton Fire Station #2. The route is mostly paved with some unpaved stretches. The course will be closed to vehicle traffic other than local residents that require access to their property. It is non-certified, but is accurately measured.
Each participant will receive a voucher for a post-race meal including mostaccoli, salad and breadsticks. Tickets for buffet for non-participants available during packet pickup before race.
Michigan’s Greatest Fudge and Taffy will be melting fudge for dipping items such as pretzels, crackers and marshmallows after the run. An excellent dessert to the post race meal which will be catered by Sullivan Food Service of Frankenmuth.
For your convenience, there will be two opportunities for late registration and packet pick-up.
- Friday, November 2, 2018: At Complete Runner from Noon-6:00 p.m.
- Race day, November 3, 2018: At the race site from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Timing & Results
Timing and results will be provided by Newton Timing & Race Services. We will be using ChronoTrack Systems, featuring the disposable B-tag that remains attached to the race number bib. Results will be posted continuously during the event for review.
Burton Race Series
The Veterans Honor Run is the final event in the four event Burton Race Series. There is no need to register for the series, just complete three of the four events and receive a custom Burton Race Series medal. Medals will be available for pick-up at the Veterans Honor Run.
